Water Treatment
Water Softeners
Water Softeners are ion exchangers that completely remove hardness ions
from your water addressing both hardness scale and soap interactions.
Hard water – water with a high calcium/magnesium content –
enters the softener via a control valve where it goes from top to bottom
through a specially prepared resin. This resin consists of specially manufactured
beads that have been saturated w/ sodium ions. Hardness minerals attached
to the resin and are “exchanged” for sodium. This process
creates soft water. A well-designed water softener includes metered on-demand
regeneration. By this process the hardness minerals are washed down the
drain and the resin bed is rinsed, resettled, and recharged with sodium
and made ready to continue softening your water.
Scale Net
Scale Net systems effectively prevent hard water scale buildup without
using more traditional ion exchange technology. This scale prevention
system is based on a technique called “template assisted crystallization”
or TAC. The media used in the SCALE NET transforms calcium ions into calcium
crystals, which are stable and cannot attach to pipes, surfaces, hardware
or heat exchanger components. The crystals are so small they are easily
rinsed away by the water flow. It requires no electricity, no salt, and
has no regeneration cycle as described above in the use of a traditional
water softener. It does have limits to it application so it is important
for you to speak with a trained water technician to make sure you are
a candidate for this system.
Carbon Filters
Carbon Filters are a very effective dechlorination method. It is essential
when using the SCALE NET system as it protects the media from harmful
chlorine. Carbon removes contaminants in two ways – through adsorption,
contaminants are attracted to the surface of the activated carbon and
held to it in much the same way a magnet attracts and holds iron filings;
and by acting as a catalyst to change the chemical composition of some
contaminants. Activated carbon is ideal for removing chlorine, organic
chemicals such as many kinds of pesticides, THMs like chloroform and many
VOCs that are components of gasoline, solvents and industrial cleaners.
Reverse Osmosis Drinking
Water Systems
With the quality of our drinking water increasingly coming under question,
people are now looking for alternative sources of quality water. Reverse
Osmosis Drinking Water Systems provide the most convenient and economical
solution. Neatly stored under the counter, the Reverse Osmosis Drinking
Water System provides you with clean and delicious water right from its
own dedicated tap.
Oxidizer
An Oxidizer is used to eliminate hydrogen sulfide “rotten egg smell”
and for iron removal in water. The way in which this is achieved is by
spraying water through a compressed bubble of air in an enclosed tank.
The spray increases water’s surface area and enhances dissolving
of air. The increased surface area provides a medium to enhanced oxygenation
of hydrogen sulfide to sulfuric acid. These compounds acidify water and
lower the pH. The water is collected at the bottom of the tank and draw3n
off by a bottom feeding tube and exits the unit.
Ultraviolet Purification
Systems
Ultraviolet Purification Systems are used to destroy illness-causing
microorganisms by attacking their genetic core (DNA). This powerful dose
of UV light eliminates their ability to reproduce, and the organisms simply
die. Water is purified by running it through a watertight chamber that
contains an ultraviolet lamp. As water flows past, microorganisms are
exposed to lethal dose of germicidal UV energy.
Water Storage
Water Storage can be used for either rainwater harvesting and/or collecting
well water. Rainwater is highly valued for its inherent quality of softness,
nearly neutral pH and the absence of metals. Repressurization helps to
maintain the waters pressure for use applications.
Supplies
Supplies for maintaining all of our systems are available in our store.
We carry a wide variety of filters, system parts, UV replacement bulbs
and some plumbing parts. If we don’t keep in stock something that
you need we will be happy to try to find it for you.
