FAQ'S

How much salt/potassium do I use in my water softener?

Salt/potassium levels should not get below the water level in the brine tank. Do not completely fill the brine tank. Keep some salt on hand and add 1-3 bags at a time. Check the level periodically as the salt usage will vary according to the water usage. In the summer more water is used causing the salt to be used up more quickly. Use a quality pellet or solar type salt or potassium.

How do I change the prefilter?

  1. CLOSE the main valve(upstream of the pre-filter)
  2. OPEN a faucet downstream of the pre-filter (to release the pressure).
  3. UNSCREW the housing (caution: the housing has an o-ring, make sure it doesn’t fall out).
    • THE FILTER SHOULD BE REPLACED AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 2 MONTHS
    • THE FILTER IS A STANDARD 10” IN LENGTH AND COMES IN A VARIETY OF TYPES, A 5-MICRON FOR MUNICIPAL/20-MICRON FOR WELL WATER IS RECOMMENDED.

How will sodium in soft water effect my health?

For years it was felt that because water conditioners used salt for their regeneration process, possibly adverse side effects could be created if consumed.

Recent medical studies have shown regular sodium intake without the presence of chlorides has virtually no effect on normal healthy humans. (The chloride ions are not utilized by a water conditioner but rather are washed down the drain).

However, if a person is on a sodium free diet, please contact your medical advisor.
